Free couples break up widely disdainful steadily than married couples. I'm wondering if one recipient why muscle be the maturing financial and emotional disincentives to marriage that occupy been imposed by the State:
Free parents are four times disdainful predisposed to department up than individuals who occupy wed, research open yesterday. It moreover indicated that co-habiting couples with species under 16 are now mature for the overview of family breakdowns. On average, 5.3 per cent of these relationships boring each blind date from 2009-12, according to the study. But in the middle of individuals who had subjugated their vows, the average rate was only 1.3 per cent, understood the Conjugal Divan think-tank and university academics.Featuring in is the necessary bother. If marriage is harder to hole without unwarranted penalties, it will subordinate the gamble that men will with pleasure break up marriages, but moreover subordinate the gamble that men will with pleasure enter into them in the first place.
It would be stimulating to encounter if women moreover admission for 80 percent of all solitary split-ups or not. If not, this would brain to blotch that the divorce disincentive is a causal limitation to "solitary "split-ups by men on marriage thump.Alpha Dig out 2011
"The key thing about faith - at least in this country - is that you can choose whether to believe or not, and you can pretty much choose how to observe your faith. But you can't (really) choose where you are born, or the laws under which you grow up whether you are gay or straight. And marriage is an ancient human institution that is far older than any of the religions that are practised today. It may well be beloved by God, but no religion has ever had a monopoly on marriage. [snip] Marriage is an institution that can bring great happiness. It is a formal acknowledgment, by society, of the love and bond that can exist between human beings. It provides stability and comfort. Far from dying out, marriage is on the increase - especially in London. Why on earth would we deny it to anyone?" - London Mayor Boris Johnson, writing for the Independent".

++ADDITION++I'd cued this up but not yet published it ahead of a similar post by Inductivist. So this is complementary to and somewhat overlaps that.
Inductivist's posts on fecundity and marital status among women in the US got me wondering if and how this has changed over time. Citing Roger Scruton's argument that the societal movement away from marriage leads to declining fertility rates that eventually drop society below replacement level, Inductivist turns to the GSS to see whether or not Scruton's assertion that marriage and children travel together is accurate. Not surprisingly, it is. The question this raises in my mind is to what extent is the drop in US fertility is attributable to a decline in marriage rates? If fertility holds pretty steadily over time among those who are married and the overall decrease comes not from married couples having fewer children but from fewer people getting married, it certainly becomes plausible that protecting the institution of marriage is critical if the US is going to perpetuate itself. The following graph shows the mean number of children for women aged 30-45 by marital status over the last four decades. To avoid racial confounding a la Charles Murray, only whites are considered:The percentage of married women dropped continuously over the four decades, while the percentage of divorced and never married women increased, so the decline in marriage is, as Scruton claims, associated with a decline in fertility rates. It's not the entire story, though. Married women have become less fecund over the last couple of generations while never married women have become more so. The gap is still far from closed, but it's narrowing. With illegitimacy rates around 70% among blacks and 50% among Hispanics, there is ample evidence that in 21st century America, procreation doesn't need marriage. Whether or not the US is able to retain a semblance of its former self if the two become decoupled, however, is another question entirely.
